Alishan (Chinese: 阿里山) is located in the east of Chiayi County (嘉義縣), Taiwan. Alishan is one of the five largest mountain ranges in Taiwan, it is about 135 kilometers long and has an average height of 2,500 meters. Sunrise is one of the five wonders in Alishan.
To appreciate the sunrise of Alishan, you have to take the Alishan Forest Railway (阿里山森林鐵路). Each train can only pick up 350 people, and the number of train tickets is limited, so be sure to buy tickets one day in advance.
About 25 minutes later, the train arrives at Chushan (祝山) station. Chushan station is 2451 meters above sea level. It is the highest railway station in Taiwan and the best place to watch the sunrise of Alishan.
The viewing platform is not too big, and basically the passengers of the first train have already occupied all the best places to watch the sunrise.
According to the Central Weather Bureau of Taiwan, the time of today's sunrise is 6:12, but the clouds are already beautiful before sunrise.
Although it is April, the mountain is still cold in the morning. Fortunately, there is a shop selling hot food next to the viewing platform.
The sun comes out, but the sunlight is too strong and the scenery is not as beautiful as the moment before the sunrise.
It should be noted that there are only one or two trains departing from Chushan Station. If you can't get on the train in time, you have to walk down by yourself.
