The Basílica de la Sagrada Família ('Basilica of the Sacred Family') also known as Sagrada Família, is the only unfinished structure listed as a World Heritage site. On the 7th of November 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the church and proclaimed it a minor basilica.
The admission doesn’t include an audio guide, you need to pay extra if you want one.
The interior of Sagrada Família is different from the other basilicas, it looks quite futuristic which reminds me of a spaceship's cabin in a sci-fi film.
The interior columns are a unique Gaudí design. Besides branching to support their load, their ever-changing surfaces are the result of the intersection of various geometric forms.
You have to stay silent during your visit, or else a staff will come to you.
The roof has many colorful windows which draw the outdoor light inside, and create a wonderful atmosphere.
Although there are many tourists in Sagrada Família, it doesn't feel crowded because of the huge space.
The vault exhibits many tools of Gaudí in designing Sagrada Família such as candlesticks and chairs, which makes it like a small museum about Gaudí.
On the subject of the extremely long construction period, Gaudí is said to have remarked: ‘My client is not in a hurry.’
The ‘client’ here, means God.
