Luang Phabang (Lao: ຫລວງພະບາງ/ຫຼວງພະບາງ) is a city in north central Laos, it was listed in 1995 for well preserved architectural, religious and cultural heritage. Scenic spots are everywhere in Luang Phabang, Choumeizai will talk about Mount Phou Si (ພະທາດພູສີ).
Mount Phou Si is a high hill in the centre of the old town of Luang Prabang, although it is only 100 meters high, it is not easy to reach the top in such hot weather.
'Phou Si' literally means 'sacred mountain' or 'sacred hill'. In Lao, the mountain is incredibly sacred to the Lao people, so there are many beautiful little temples and shrines dotted throughout the hill.
On top of the hill is That Chomsi (หลวงพระบาง), a golden pagoda topped with a 7 tiered parasol, which was built by King Anourathurath in 1804.
At the summit of the hill, you can overlook the whole town of Luang Prabang and surrounding countryside, the view is beautiful and splendid.
Mount Phou Si is famous for viewing the sunset, so it is very crowded in the evening, just get there early if you want a good position to take photos.
