Can Tho is located 169 kilometres from Hồ Chí Minh City, although it is the fourth-largest city in Vietnam, there are still many unadorned villages in its rural areas. Choumeizai had lived in a local farmhouse in Can Tho for one night, and enjoyed a delicious dinner.
Since it is just a local farmhouse but not a five stars hotel, the appearance is a bit shabby, but warm inside.
All foods of the dinner are cooked by the female owner of the farmhouse, Choumeizai helps her to make some spring rolls, but the end products are so ugly.
The fillings of the spring rolls are mainly fresh vegetables, together with a little bit minced pork, very healthy.
Besides the owners of the farmhouse, the neighbors also join the dinner, so there are ten people in total including Choumeizai and his friends, like a party.
Inside the small pot is the fish named 'snake head', tastes like eel, the meat is more tender, tasty but not oily.
The highlight of the dinner is the boiled elephant ear fish, it is the true way to eat elephant ear fish.
Different from Chinese boiled fish, the Vietnamese style boiled fish uses lesser water and oil, no chili but seasons with mushrooms and fish sauce instead, Choumeizai likes it so much.
For vegetables, it has pumpkin flowers and banana heart, banana heart is the core of banana flower while pumpkin flowers are inherited from French colonists, both fresh and savory.
White wine is brewed by the female owner of the farmhouse, the alcohol is quite strong but full of the taste of rice, a bit sweet and easy to drink.
Under the effect of alcohol, the atmosphere is hyped, the owner of the farmhouse sings some traditional Vietnamese songs, the dinner party ends in pleasant rhythms.
