Vembanad (Malayalam: വേമ്പനാട്ട് കായൽ) is located in the southwest of India and close to the Arabian Sea. Vembanad is the longest lake in India, and the largest lake in the state of Kerala (കേരളം), it is also a popular tourist attraction in Kerala.

Vembanad is home to more than 20,000 waterfowls, the third largest such population in India. It is also an ideal habitat for shrimps.
