Jinguashi (Chinese: 金瓜石) is a town in Ruifang District, (瑞芳區) New Taipei City (新北市), Taiwan. Jinguashi is notable for its historic gold mines. After the minerals depleted, Jinguashi still attracts many visitors to its Gold Ecological Park (黃金博物園) by its gold crafts.
There is an exhibition hall in Gold Ecological Park. The exhibition hall has two floors, the first floor has a gold discovery journey, a model of the mining tunnels, some mining equipment from the past and related relics.
The second floor expounds the special features and application of gold by showcasing beautiful gold crafts and rare ores.
But for Choumeizai, the most attractive is a giant Gold brick which allows the visitors to touch.
Visitors can also have a gold panning experience on the third floor, but need to book in advance.
There are many snack stalls in the Gold Ecological Park, selling all kinds of Taiwanese snacks.
Among the snacks, Choumeizai likes doufuhua (豆腐花) the most. Maybe the water quality here is good, the doufuhua here is smooth as silk.
