Zhujiajiao (Chinese: 朱家角) is a water town located at the outskirts of Shanghai (上海), China. Zhujiajiao was established about 1,700 years ago, it has long been a bustling commercial center until now.
Zhujiajiao prospered through clothing and rice businesses. Today, old historical buildings such as rice shops, banks, spice stores and even a Qing dynasty post office can still be found.
Zhujiajiao has numerous rivers and 36 stone bridges, and many ancient buildings still line the riverbanks nowadays.
Zhujiajiao is quite close to the downtown of Shanghai, so the whole town is always crowded with tourists on Saturday and Sunday.
There is no admission for Zhujiajiao, but you need to pay if you want to enter some ancient buildings, and the admission is reasonable, for example, only 5 RMB for Shing Wong Temple (城隍廟).
