Ancestral Temple of Margrave Huan (Chinese: 桓侯祠) , commonly known as Zhang Fei Temple (張飛廟) is located in the old town area of Langzhong (閬中), Sichuan (四川) Province, China. Zhang Fei Temple is the most historical site in Langzhong.
Zhang Fei Temple was established in honor of Shu Han (蜀漢) General Zhang Fei (張飛), a military leader of the Three Kingdoms (三國) Period (220–280).
Zhang Fei was one of Shu Han’s Five Tiger Generals (五虎將) and brother in arms of Liu Bei (劉備) and Guan Yu (關羽).
The temple has a history of over 1,700 years, but the current buildings only date from the Ming (明) and Qing (清) dynasties (14th-19th century).
The mound behind the temples is the tomb of Zhang Fei, the body of Zhang Fei is buried here, but his head is buried in another place.
There is an exhibition pertaining to Zhang Fei’s life, the bronze statues are delicate and vivid, worth to drop some time to take a look.
