Wulai (Chinese: 烏來) is a mountain indigenous district in southern New Taipei City (新北市), Taiwan. Wulai is the largest district in New Taipei, as well as the most mountainous, and is home to the indigenous Atayal (泰雅) people.
Wulai Old Street (烏來老街) is a shopping district located at Atayal aboriginal village filled with many food stalls and restaurants. The street stretches for 300 meters.
Wulai sits near the border with Taipei and is famous for its hot springs, sightseeing and aboriginal culture. During the spring, many visitors come to see the cherry trees bloom.
Wulai Atayal Museum (烏來泰雅民族博物館) is a museum about local Atayal culture on Wulai Old Street.
The museum is a three-story building house in a building surrounded by rows of checkered-shape patterns.It displays the history, customs, culture, rituals, religious faith and festivals of the Atayal aboriginal tribe.
Wulai’s delicacies include creek shrimp, mountain pork, bamboo tube rice and bamboo shoot soup, which can be tasted in any restaurant on the old street.
Among those delicacies, Choumeizai likes bamboo tube rice and roasted mountain pork the most. Bamboo tube rice is mixed with mountain vegetables such as bamboo shoots and taro, which is fresh and delicious.
There is a bridge at the end of Wulai Old Street. From the bridge, you can clearly see that the old street is located at the intersection of two rivers, an excellent location.
