Wudang Mountains (Chinese: 武當山) are located in the northwestern part of the Hubei (湖北) Province, China. Tianzhu Peak (天柱峰) is the highest peak in Wudang Mountains, on the top of the peak sits Jindian (金殿), one of the most distinctive landmarks of the mountains.
Tianzhu Peak is 1612 meters above sea level, you can enjoy the splendid view of mountains from the peak.
Jindian, literally means ‘Golden Hall’, contains a bronze statue of Xuanwu (玄武), around the statue stand more gilded copper statues, both statues and hall represent the best in Ming copper work.
Xuanwu is a powerful deity in Chinese religion, one of the higher-ranking deities in Taoism. He is revered as a powerful god, able to control the elements and capable of great magic.
The first site of worship in Wudang Mountains was constructed in the Tang Dynasty (618 to 907), while the largest complex on the mountain was built during the Ming dynasty (1468 – 1644).
Royal Scripture Hall is not too far from Jindian, the facade of the hall is decorated by beautiful clay carvings, don’t miss it.
