Wudang Mountains (Chinese: 武當山) are located in the northwestern part of the Hubei (湖北) Province, China. They are home to a famous complex of Taoist (道教) temples associated with the god Xuanwu (玄武). Wudang Mountains have a lot of scenic spots, Longtou Incense (龍頭香) is amongst the most impressive.
Nanyan Temple (南岩宫) is considered the most spectacular of Wudangshan's three famous temples, it is is known as the place where Xuanwu found Taoism and flew to heaven.
Nanyan Temple is very big and can be divided into two parts, the view of the south part is more splendid.
There are many stone inscriptions in Nanyan Temple, some of them can date back to the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368).
Outside Luangyi Palace (兩儀殿), there is a very special incense burner named Longtou Incense, ‘Longtou’ literally means ‘dragonhead’ in Chinese.
There were countless people who lost their lives just to worship incense since Longtou Incense is located at the edge of the cliff. For safety, the local governments have built a railing around Longtou Incense.
Next to Longtou Incense there is a big bell, tourists can ring the bell by throwing coins to wish for good luck.
