Tung Chung Fort (Chinese: 東涌寨城) is a fort located near Ha Ling Pei (下嶺皮), Tung Chung (東涌), Lantau Island (大嶼山), Hong Kong. The walls of the Tung Chung Fort are still well preserved, and tourists can feel the strong sense of the ancients when they walk on it.
The basic structure of the wall is well preserved. Tourists can start from the main entrance, circle around the wall and return to the starting point.
The ground of the wall is covered with moss, and there are no fences on both sides, visitors should pay attention to safety when walking on it.
The area of Tung Chung Fort is about 4,500 square meters. The city wall is made of granite and has three arched city gates.
The fort was garrisoned to defend the coast from pirates until the lease of New Territories to Britain in 1898, then it was abandoned. During World War II, the Imperial Japanese Army occupied the fort.
To get to Tung Chung Fort, you can walk for about 20 minutes from Tung Chung MTR Station, or take bus No. 3M and get off at Ha Ling Pei Station.
