Tung Lung Chau(Chinese: 東龍洲) is not big, it takes about 5 hours to walk around the island, but if you just visit the main scenic spots like Choumeizai, half a day is more than enough, Choumeizai will introduce the main relics on Tung Lung Chau here.
Hung Shing Temple(Chinese: 洪聖廟) is located right next to the Nam Tong Pier(Chinese: 南堂碼頭), it was built before 1821, very small and nothing special.
Tong Lung Chau rock carving is the earliest recorded in-situ rock carving in Hong Kong, there was an entry in the 1819 Xinan Gazetteer(Chinese: 新安縣志). It is also the largest carving ever found in Hong Kong, measuring 1.8m by 2.4m.
On the way to the rock carving there is a lookout, you can enjoy the splendid view of eastern coast of Hong Kong Island.
Tung Lung Fort is located at the north eastern tip of Tung Lung Chau, it has become a ruin because of its old history.
Tung Lung Fort was built in the reign of Kangxi (1662-1722) to guard against pirates according to the Xinan Gazetteer.
However, another historical document describes Tung Lung Fort as being built by order of Yang Lin, Viceroy of Guangdong and Guangxi from 1719 to 1724.
There is a small lighthouse at the northern tip of Tung Lung Fort, it doesn’t have much historical value, but is a good place for taking photos.
To remind you, the location of the lighthouse is a bit subtle, you need to go through the store and campsite to reach it.
