Paro Taktsang (Dzongkha: སྤ་གྲོ་སྟག་ཚང་) also known as Tiger's Nest, is a Buddhist sacred site and a popular tourist attraction located in the cliffside of the upper Paro valley in Bhutan, about 3120 metres above the sea level.
To visit Tiger's Nest, you need a whole day to go back and forth, so most tourists start in the early morning, have lunch in the mountain then return in the afternoon.
If you are not confident in your strength, you can hire a pony to take you up, but the tour guide of Choumeizai doesn’t recommend this, since the trails are quite steep, riding a pony is more dangerous.
Tiger's Nest is on high altitude, the oxygen is thinner than normal, you should slow down a bit when going up, don’t rush.
Although there is only one destination, there are several trails to reach there, some of them are shortcuts, steeper but the scenery is much better.
There are only a few restaurants in the mountain, the biggest one provides buffet lunch, all veggies and not so many choices, the taste is just okay, only the rice is good.
The scenery outside the restaurant is quite beautiful, if the weather is nice, you would better eat outside, the food will be more delicious with such a splendid view.
In addition, since all trails in Tiger's Nest are unpaved, Choumeizai suggests you guys wearing platform shoes, which can give you more protection.
