Jiaju Tibetan Village (Chinese: 甲居藏寨) is located in Danba (Tibetan: རོང་བྲག།) county, Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (དཀར་མཛེས་བོད་རིགས་རང་སྐྱོང་ཁུལ།) in western Sichuan (四川) Province, China. It was rated as the most beautiful village in China by Chinese National Geographic Magazine.
Danba Jiaju Tibetan Village is the most concentrated place for Jiarong Tibetans with hundreds of Tibetan-style houses built along the mountain's fertile fields.
There are over 180 Tibetan villages in Danba County, while Jiaju Tibetan Village is the best example and most concentrated place to present Jiarong Tibetan culture.
There are several observation decks in the scenic area. From the observation decks, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the whole Jiaju Tibetan Village.
There are trails connecting the observation decks, and many hawkers gather around each observation deck, selling local products to tourists.
Jiarong people (Tibetan: རྒྱལ་རོང, Chinese:嘉绒) are Tibetan who live in Danba County and the southern part of Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture (阿壩藏族羌族自治州) of Sichuan, China.
Danba is called ‘A Place with Hundreds of Ancient Watchtowers’ with over 3000 towers at present. The towers are made of stone. Some of them were used to pass signals, and some for family protection.
The buildings in Jiaju Tibetan Village are built by traditional methods and look very exotic and beautiful. However, visitors are strictly prohibited from trespassing, so as not to disturb the lives of local residents.
