Guoliang Village (Chinese: 郭亮村) is located deep inside the Taihang Mountains standing astride Shanxi (山西) and Henan (河南) provinces, it is nestled in a valley surrounded by towering mountains cut off from outside civilization.
The village was named after a fugitive rebel named Guoliang (郭亮) during the Han (漢) Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD), who had fought an overwhelming imperial force to a standstill utilizing the extreme local terrain.
Most of the old buildings in Guoliang Village have been renovated to hostels, the facilities are a bit simple, but all are tidy and clean.
The villagers here are unexpectedly friendly, Choumeizai is invited to have a cup of tea by a granny when he is looking for a toilet.
Guoliang Village has also been used as a film location, but there are not so many tourists during Choumeizai’s visit, only a few students drawing.
