Jianshui Swallow Cave (Chinese: 建水燕子洞) is located in the Lujiang River Valley, 20 kilometers east of Jianshui (建水) County, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture (紅河哈尼族彝族自治州), Yunnan (雲南) Province, China. Jianshui Swallow Cave is known for its edible bird’s nest.
There are many temples around the entrance of the cave, the original wooden structures have been all revamped to concrete structures, safe but looks ugly.
Cliff inscriptions are everywhere, one of them is carved in an ancient font which looks like a bird 's head.
Inside the cave standing many ancient statues, looks like a huge natural cathedral.
Jianshui Swallow cave is famous for its unique stalactite cave scenery, swallows gathering, hanging plaques, and bird's nest picking stunt.
Jianshui Swallow Cave earns its name because the swallows will come and live on the stalactite wall in spring every year.
Tourists can also see the demonstration of harvesting the edible bird’s nest, which is the main source of income, not the admission fee.
The workers harvest the bird’s nest with their bare hands , without using any safety gear, Choumeizai is so nervous.
