Lion Rock (Chinese: 獅子山) is a mountain located in Sha Tin (沙田) District, Hong Kong. Lion Rock is 495 meters high, it lies between Kowloon and the New Territories, it is one of the most famous landmarks of Hong Kong, and also an ideal place to view the sunset.
Lion Rock is noted for its shape, its resemblance to a crouching lion is most striking from some of the areas in East Kowloon.
Although there is a huge warning sign on the east peak, people still ignore the warning and walk to the edge of the cliff to enjoy the scenery.
From the top of Lion Rock, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Kowloon East and Hong Kong Eastern District.
The peak of Lion Rock consists of granite covered sparsely by shrub, and is estimated to be around 140 million years old.
Lion Rock peak is one of the best places to enjoy the sunset in Hong Kong. The weather is excellent today, and the sunset is colorful.
There is no light on Lion Rock, so bring your own torch so that you can go down safely after watching the sunset.
From the Reunion Pavilion (回歸亭), you can see the nightscape of Kowloon, very romantic.
