There is a small hill next to the hotel where Choumeizai lives, from the top of the hill, you can overlook the whole Medina of Fes. Perhaps it is a popular sunset point, many tourists have been waiting when Choumeizai climbs there.
The ruins are believed to be Marinid Tombs dating from the 14th century, during the Marinid dynasty (13th-15th centuries), hence their name.
Today the site is perhaps best known as a lookout with panoramic views over the old city of Fez, popular at sunset, and often mentioned in guidebooks and tourist literature.
The ruins will be lit up after dark, together with the light of Medina of Fes, the scenery is fantastic.
