The Ryu’s family was a noble family in Hahoe, some of the family members had served in the government as senior officials.
Most of the furnitures in Bukchonyugeo are well preserved, as if you are going into a time tunnel.
The entire building can be converted into a single space simply by opening the sliding doors between the rooms and the doors between the rooms and the daecheong (a wooden floor between the inner room and the opposite room of the main building).
In the past, only male was allowed to go in Bukchonyugeo, all female could only stay in the residential area.
The house contains valuable cultural heritages including a 300-year-old pine tree that is known for its curved shape, which is said to resemble the Nakdonggang River (낙동강) as it meanders around the village of Hahoe.
