Wuzhang Plains (Chinese: 五丈原) are plateaus in Shaanxi (陝西), China. The name "Wuzhang" means "five zhang", where zhang (丈) is a Chinese unit of measurement which converts to 3⅓ metre. In actuality, the plains are situated at the height of 120 metres.
Wuzhang Plains were the site of the Battle of Wuzhang Plains during the Three Kingdoms period of China, in which the famous Shu (蜀) statesman Zhuge Liang (諸葛亮) died of sickness.
At present, Wuzhang Plains are a designated scenic region where relics of the Three Kingdoms period scattered across the plains, many temples were erected there in Zhuge Liang's name.
Since Wuzhang Plains is known as the site where Zhuge Liang died, many poets of old have journeyed here and left their mark.
There is a big meteorite in front of the temple, it is said that such a meteorite was the star of Zhuge Liang, the star fell once he died.
The Qin Mountains (秦嶺) are to the plains' south, while three rivers are to their north, east and west, for such special terrain, Wuzhang Plains had always been the military strongholds in Chinese history.
