The Shwedagon Pagoda (Burmese: ရွှေတိဂုံဘုရာ), also known as the Golden Pagoda, is a gilded stupa located in Yangon, Myanmar. The best time to visit Shwedagon Pagoda is late afternoon, since it is not so hot.
The ground absorbs the heat from the sun, it is unbearably burning while you are walking barefoot, the white tiles are cooler.
There are 64 small stupas and 4 medium stupas surrounding the Shwedagon Pagoda, these stupas are made of woods and rocks, looks like a ‘jungle of stupas’, splendid.
Whispers of chanting are everywhere though, the surrounding buildings may be too shiny, and there are too many people, Choumeizai doesn’t feel any solemnity.
Around the Shwedagon Pagoda lie many century-old buildings, those old buildings are much more beautiful than the new one, some of them are affected by British culture, looks a bit European.
The gallery displays many old photos of the Shwedagon Pagoda, you can see what kinds of gems are set on the top of the pagoda.
When the sun is going down, the pagoda reflects wonderful color and keeps changing, a good moment to take photos.
Perhaps it is much cooler in the evening, many people come here this time, crowds are everywhere, which makes Choumeizai uncomfortable.
All visitors who want to visit the temple must dress appropriately.Short trousers and skirts are prohibited and you must remove your shoes while visiting Shwedagon Pagoda.
