Shennongjia (Chinese: 神農架) is a forestry district in northwestern Hubei (河北) Province, China. Shennongjia occupies 3,253 square kilometers, while over 90% of its area is virgin forest. Choumeizai will talk about Xiangxiyuan (香溪源), one of the famous scenic spots in Shennongjia.
Xiangxiyuan is the source of Xiangxi (香溪), a tributary of Yantze River (長江). The water quality of Xiangxi is excellent, the water is green like jade.
There is a walkway along the river, it takes about one hour to go around, not so difficult.
Xiangxi literally means 'fragrant stream' in Chinese, it’s name comes from a legend about Wang Zhaojun (王昭君), one of the 'four beauties' in ancient China.
It was said that Wang Zhaojun used to live near Xiangxi and often washed her hands in the river, therefore the river became fragrant.
Tianshengqiao is a scenic tourist area characterized by caves, cliffs, waterfalls and rivers. Choumeizai is impressed by the cleanliness and purity of the water and air.
At the end there is a ugly pipe lying on the riverbed, the tour guide says that this pipe belongs to a beverage company, does it want to suck this river dry?
