Jinshan Old Street (Chinese: 金山老街), also known as Jinbaoli Old Street (金包里老街), is located in Jinshan District (金山區) , New Taipei City (新北市), Taiwan. Dating back over 300 years, Jinshan Old Street is the oldest street in Jinshan.
Jinshan Old Street is about 1 kilometer long. Most of the buildings on both sides of the street have been remodeled, only a few of them still retain their former appearance.
Jinshan Old Street has a variety of snacks such as pork, oyster cake, taro cake and roasted sweet potato, all are very famous and popular with tourists.
There is a well-known restaurant in Jinshan Old Street, and many people come all the way from Taipei just to have a bite of their salted duck.
The operation of this shop is very peculiar. Customers first go to their kitchen to get the food, then bring it to the dining area on the opposite side of the kitchen , and pay after eating.
The salted duck really lives up to its reputation, the duck skin is crispy, the duck meat is tender and delicious, it feels fresh and not greasy.
Besides the salted duck, other side dishes are also of good quality. The fresh bamboo shoots in the brine are sweet and refreshing, and the fried sea prawns are very tasty.
Jinbaoli Cihu Temple (金包里慈護宮) is located at the end of Jinshan Old Street. This Temple is the center of belief in Jinshan District. Around the temple, there are a few ancient buildings from the late Qing Dynasty and the Japanese occupation period.
