Odawara Castle (Japanese: 小田原城) is a Japanese castle in the city of Odawara (小田原), Kanagawa Prefecture (神奈川県), Japan. Many tourists come to Odawara Castle to see the cherry blossoms in spring.
There is a children's playground in Odawara Castle, and there is a small hill next to the playground, which is the best place to view the Tenshu (天守).
There are not so many tourists in this area, and the cherry blossoms seem particularly luxuriant here, Choumeizai can even smell the sweetness of cherry blossoms in the air.
The buildings in the castle were almost completely destroyed after the Kanto Earthquake in 1923. The Tenshu (天守) is actually an antique building built in 1960.
Unlike people, the older the cherry tree is, the more luxuriant it is, and it is more charming than when it was young.
Odawara Castle is very close to Tokyo, so Choumeizai suggests that if you want to avoid the crowds, it is best to visit here in the early morning.
There is a sakura tunnel outside Odawara Castle. After passing through the tunnel, there is a shopping street. Many shops sell products related to cherry blossoms.
