Sugamo (Japanese: 巣鴨) is a neighborhood in Toshima (豐島), Tokyo, Japan. Jizō-dōri (地蔵通り), a shopping street in Sugamo, is popular among the older generation, earning it the nickname ‘Granny's Harajuku.’
Most of the products selling in Jizō-dōri are articles for daily use, although the shopkeepers are seniors, they are all friendly and passionate.
Besides the articles for daily use, there are many shops selling traditional snacks in Jizō-dōri, such as rice crackers and Dai Fuku (大福).
The red underwear is the specialty of Sugamo, it is said that such underwear can bring you good luck, Choumeizai doesn’t dare to try.
The restaurants here look pretty old style, but the quality of food is excellent.
The mascot of Sugamo will walk around Jizō-dōri even though it is hot summer, so hardworking.
