Anping Old Fort (Chinese: 安平古堡), also named Fort Zeelandia (熱蘭遮城), Orange City (奧倫治城), Anping City (安平城), and Taiwan City (臺灣城), is located in Tainan (臺南) City of Taiwan. was a fortress built over ten years from 1624 to 1634 by the Dutch.
During the 17th century, when Europeans from many countries sailed to Asia to develop trade, Taiwan became one of East Asia's most important transit sites, making Anping Old Fort an international business center.
The old fort has been revamped as an exhibition hall, showcasing the history of Anping Old Fort, but most of the exhibits are photos, not so many antiques.
There is a newly built tower next to the exhibition hall, all tourists can go free of charge. On the top of the tower, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Tainan City.
The location of Anping Old Fort was the city center of Tainan City, even though the government office has been moved to another location, the shopping area is still crowded with people.
There is an old temple inside the shopping area, the decoration of the temple looks old but still very beautiful, it is worth a look if you go to Anping Old Fort.
