Kiautschou Governor's Residence (Chinese: 膠澳總督官邸) is the former residence of German colonial governor at Qingdao City (青島市), Shandong Province (山東省), China. The building was designed by a German architect and was constructed during the years from 1904 to 1908.
The building was the official residence of the German governor-general in the war zone of Jiao Ao (膠澳). It is the architecture of a classic German castle.
All interior finishes, furniture and fittings are in excellent condition and almost 100 percent recreate the former splendour of the Kiautschou Governor's Hall.
The weather in Shandong is cold, so there is a heater in the room. In addition, almost every room in the building has a fireplace, and each of them is designed differently and is as beautiful as a work of art.
The Building has been occupied and used by the Japanese several times, so many cultural relics related to Japan have been preserved.
The delicate shape, splendid ornaments, graceful lines and bold colors make the building one of the best examples of monomeric villas in China.
The building was subsequently used by the Chinese Kuomintang government and, after June 1949, by the People's Republic of China. It served as Qingdao's town hall until 1992.
