Prambanan is located in Central Java of Indonesia, There were once 240 temples standing in this Shivaite temple complex, either big or small. The majority of them have deteriorated; what is left are only scattered stones.
Today, all of 8 main temples and 8 small shrines in the inner zone are reconstructed, but only 3 out of the original 224 pervara temples are renovated.
The 3 main temples in the inner zone are amongst the tallest and the grandest, which are dedicated to Brahma the Creator (Sanskrit: ब्रह्मा), Vishnu the Preserver (विष्णु) and Shiva the Transformer (ब्रह्मा).
It is the first time Choumeizai sees the portrait of Brahma, the creator god in Hinduism. Brahma is traditionally depicted with four faces and four arms. He is often depicted with a white beard, implying his sage-like experience.
Besides the narrative bas-reliefs telling the story of the Hindu epic Ramayana, the other stone carvings for decoration are also beautiful.
The tour guide says these birds are auspicious, so Choumeizai touches some of them, for the sake of gaining luck.
