High Island (Chinese: 糧船灣) is a former island in the southeast of Sai Kung Peninsula, Hong Kong. The island is now connected to the peninsula and renowned for its natural beauty, Pak Lap Wan (白腊灣) is one of the famous scenic spots on High Island.
Although there is no public transportation to reach Pak Lap Wan, many visitors will come here on Saturday and Sunday.
The rocks around Pak Lap Wan are colorful, which are the products of devastating volcanic eruptions about 140 million years ago.
The best time to visit Pak Lap Wan is weekdays, since there are not so many people on the beach, you can enjoy the serenity.
Pak Lap Tsai (白腊仔) is not too far from Pak Lap Wan, it takes around 15 minutes to walk there.
Pak Lap Tsai is a pebblestone beach, most of the stones on the beach are smooth and rounded as eggs due to the washing and rubbing of the sea water.
Pak Lap Tsai also named Seven Layers Beach (七重石灘). It is said that you can see seven lines from the beach.
To go to Pak Lap Wan, you can take taxi from Sai Kung Pier (西貢碼頭) or Pak Tam Ching (北潭涌) and get off at Pak Lap Village (白腊村).
