Shenyang Finance Museum (Chinese: 瀋陽金融博物館) is located in Shenyang (瀋陽), Liaoning (遼寧) Province, China. The museum used to be the headquarter of Border Bank (邊業銀行), the largest bank in Northeastern China at that time.
The main hall of the museum is filled with wax figures, imitating the scenario of the bank in the 1920s.
The museum has several showrooms displaying the collections of ancient currencies, stamps and trade papers with historical importance, but taking photos is prohibited in most of the place.
The treasury of the bank is still well preserved but there is no money inside, of course.
Border Bank was inaugurated in 1925 by Zhuang Zuolin (張作霖), which belonged to 95% to the Zhang family.
At the end of the tour you can see an imitated stock exchange center, with the digits of DOWS, NYSE and BSE shining around, you will wonder if China is still a so-called communist country.
