Yanan (Chinese: 延安) is located at the northwest of Shaanxi (陝西), China. Yanan will launch a big parade in every Lunar New Year, in order to show the various traditional dances in loess plateau in Northeast Shanxi.
The parade starts in the early morning, all performing groups are led by the honor guard of the local government, it looks like a military procession.
Yaogu (腰鼓; waist drum) dance has a lot of varieties in Northeast Shanxi, the parade show all in one time.
The parade is launched on the 15th day of Lunar New Year, it is supposed to be a voluntary celebration of the locals, now it becomes an entertaining program for tourists.
There are plenty of performing groups, the parade lasts around 3 to 4 hours and ends at noon.
