Ansai (Chinese: 安塞) is a northwest district of Shaanxi (陝西), China. It has an average height of 1,200 meters above the sea level, typical loess landform. Ansai's cultural heritage includes typical Shanbei (陝北) folk art, Yaogu (腰鼓; waist drum) is amongst the most well known.
Yaogu is a traditional Chinese drum instrument which is prevailing around the Yellow River Valley area, especially in Shaanxi province.
Ansai Yaogu has a history of over 2,000 years, there is a big performance in every Lunar New Year. The parade will march along the Main Street, if you want to take good photos, you would better go there earlier since there are many audiences.
Time goes by, the Ansai Yaogu has become modern, there are not so many traditional elements left nowadays, Choumeizai is quite disappointed.
