Castaway Island is an island of the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji. The surrounding coral reef is so well preserved that one can enjoy the beautiful underwater scenery even by snorkelling only.
There is a hotel in Castaway Island where all visitors can borrow snorkels and fins for free, just don't forget to bring your swimwear.
There is a large area of green seaweed just right off the shore, Choumeizai felt like he was flying over a plain. Between the plants swam colorful fishes, you could play hide and seek with them.
After you have passed through the seaweed plain, you will meet a coral garden, the colors are vivid and the shapes of the corals are beautiful, it looks like a natural art museum.
Perhaps there are not so many tourists coming here, the fishes here are quite daring and not scared of people, they swim around Choumeizai and make him realize that nature is not the property of human beings.
Castaway Island Known traditionally by the Fijians as ‘Qalito’, Choumeizai guesses that the current name comes from Tom Hanks’s movie Castaway since it looks almost the same as the island in the movie.
