Mount Davis (Chinese: 摩星嶺) is an area surrounding and including the westernmost hill on Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. Mount Davis is 269 meters tall, it is named after Sir John Francis Davis, who was the 2nd Governor of Hong Kong, from 1844 to 1848.
Mount Davis Path is a wide asphalt road, very easy to walk.
Mount Davis was an important artillery depot of the British forces since 1911, five 9.2-inch canons were installed.
The depot was heavily bombed by Japanese during the Battle of Hong Kong, it was later demolished by British defences towards the end of the battle.
From the top of Mount Davis, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the west side of Hong Kong Island, even Lantau Island (大嶼山).
The transportation to Mount Davis is very convenient. There is a bus terminal right next to the entrance of Mount Davis Path.
Jubilee Battery is located at the western foot of Mount Davis, Hong Kong Island, the gun emplacement and surrounding buildings have been listed as Grade 3 Historic Buildings in Hong Kong since 2010.
Completed in 1939, Jubilee Battery had three gun emplacements and other military facilities such as searchlights, ammunition depots and barracks.
