Kam Shan Country Park (Chinese: 金山郊野公園), also known in Hong Kong as Monkey Hill (馬騮山), is a country park located in the ranges north of Kowloon, Hong Kong. The park takes its name from the 369 meters peak, Kam Shan (金山).
Most of the area is covered by the Kowloon Group of Reservoirs (九龍水塘群), including Kowloon Reservoir (九龍水塘), Kowloon Byewash Reservoir (九龍副水塘), Kowloon Reception Reservoir (九龍接收水塘), Shek Lei Pui Reservoir (石梨貝水塘).
Kam Shan Country Park covers an area of 3.37 square kilometers. Inside the park, there are jogging trails, barbecue and picnic areas.
The weather was sunny today, so many monkeys come out to enjoy sunbathing.
To most locals, Kam Shan is a famous macaques kingdom in Hong Kong. The macaques are the largest group of mammals in the park.
These monkeys are probably descendants of monkeys released by pet owners in the 1920s, whereas wild macaque groups native to Hong Kong have almost disappeared due to habitat destruction and over-hunting.
Monkeys have no natural enemies here, so the number of monkeys has increased exponentially, gradually forming a monkey kingdom in Kam Shan Country Park.
