The Maeklong Railway (Thai: ทางรถไฟสายแม่กลอง) stretches between Bangkok and Samut Songkhram (จังหวัดสมุทรสงคราม) in central Thailand. The railway became a famous tourist attraction for its route through the Maeklong Railway Market (แม่น้ำแม่กลอง).
The train track is covered with weeds, as if the railway had been desolate a long time ago.
The market mainly sells local products, some of them are quite rare to be seen in normal markets, such as dried locusts.
At the end of the track is an old train terminal, there are many hawkers selling various local snacks inside and around the terminal.
Maeklong Railway Market It is one of the largest fresh seafood markets in Thailand, the hawkers here are very friendly, even though Choumeizai haven’t bought anything, they are still smiling in front of the camera.
On the way back, there are many tourists and tripods standing along the track, while the hawkers are busy taking away their goods, the train is coming.
The awnings which the hawkers use have some special devices, so they are easy for them to pull down.
By the way, Maeklong Railway Market is nicknamed Talat Rom Hup (Thai: ตลาดร่มหุบ), meaning ‘umbrella pulldown market’.
Once the train has passed, the stalls will resume normal immediately, amazing!
