Mae Wang (Thai: แม่วาง) is a district in the central part of Chiang Mai province in northern Thailand. Mae Wang is mostly covered by mountains and forests, the height ranged from 400 meters to 1,909 metres, the scenery is beautiful and it is a good place for hiking.
The average temperature in Chiang Mai throughout the year is about 20 degrees Celsius, which is much cooler than Bangkok, but it is still hot and humid in summer. Remember to bring water before you go hiking.
There are many rice fields on the mountain, and farmers use water pumps to divert river water for irrigation.
Across Mae Wang, the ethnic Hill Tribe people are more present than in other parts of Thailand. Groups with large populations in the district include the Karen people, Hmong and Akha peoples.
Compared with China and Vietnam, the terraced fields here are not spectacular, but the scenery is full of green, which is refreshing.
On the way there are many deserted farmlands, the scenery is more beautiful.
There are several water buffaloes in the field, all of them are at least twice the size of Choumeizai, but they are very timid, and they run away when Choumeizai approaches.
