Lotus Pond (Chinese: 蓮池潭) is an artificial lake and popular tourist destination on the east side of Zuoying (左營) District in Kaohsiung (高雄), Taiwan. Opened in 1951, it is famous for the lotus plants and the numerous temples around the lake, including Spring and Autumn Pavilions (春秋閣) and Cih Ji Palace (慈濟宮).
Spring and Autumn Pavilions are a Taoist temple complex, It was composed of two Chinese palace-style pavilions which were built in 1953.
Spring and Autumn Pavilions also called ‘Spring and Autumn Royal Pavilion’ (春秋御閣), got its name from the Spring Pavilion and Autumn Pavilion. It is a landmark that commemorates the martial saint, Lord Kuan (關帝).
There is a corridor beneath the big Guanyin (觀音) statue, the wall of the corridor is painted with fresco, showing the scenes of hell. At the end of the corridor, you can find ‘fairy water’ for free, Choumeizai drinks some and wishes to become immortal.
Cih Ji Palace was originally built in 1719 at Feng Shan, then moved here and renovated in 1960, worshiping Baosheng Dadi (保生大帝) and other gods.
Baosheng Dadi is a Chinese god of medicine who is worshiped in Chinese folk religion and Taoism. The god is most popular in Fujian and Taiwan.
