Longji Rice Terraces (Chinese: 龍脊梯田) is located at Guangxi (廣西) of China. It was established in Yuan Dynasty (13th century) and had around 700years of history, ‘Moon with seven stars’ (七星伴月) in Ping An Village (平安寨) is one of the popular tourists attractions.
‘Moon with seven stars’ is not far from ‘Nine Dragons Five Tigers’ (九龍五虎), another tourist attraction in Longji Rice Terraces, in between there is a flat path paved by slates, which is easy to walk.
The scenery along the path is beautiful, but there are some pushy hawkers who spoil the atmosphere.
The resting area of ‘Moon with seven stars’ is big and has many facilities for tourists. There is a small shop selling stone ground soya milk, smooth and tasty, worth trying.
The small lookout is on the hilltop, it is an ideal place to enjoy the panoramic view of rice terraces and take good photos.
‘Moon with seven stars’ actually means the eight hilltops you can see from here, the one which has a paddy field on top is the ‘Moon’, it will become shiny if filled with water, the rest of seven are ‘Stars’, the locals are so imaginative.
