Longfeng Valley (Chinese: 龍鳳谷) is a large volcanic sulfur hot spring area located at the southwest corner of Yangmingshan National Park (陽明山國家公園), Taiwan. Longfeng Valley provides hot spring water to most of the hotels in Beitou (北投).
Since Longfeng Valley is the main water supply site for the hot spring hotels in Beitou, the pipes spread everywhere, which is quite ugly.
Longfeng Valley literally means ‘Dragon and Phoenix Valley’. Since steam vents and sulfur deposits are everywhere, tourists must stay on the hiking trails.
The more you go upstream, the more secluded the scenery is. You can see some broken statues made of cement along the way, which are a bit creepy but a bit funny.
At the end of the path is a small garden. There are two bridges next to the garden. The entrances of the two bridges are written ‘Male guests not allowed’, and the other side is written ‘Female guests not allowed’.
Out of curiosity, Choumeizai goes to the ‘Female guests not allowed’ side. There is a small hut at the other side of the bridge which is packed with naked men. It turns out that this is a free natural hot spring. Choimeizai wants to have a try, but later finds that it is quite dirty and gives up.
