Nangongshan (Chinese: 南宮山) is located in Langao (嵐皋) County of Ankang (安康) City, south of Shaanxi (陜西) Province, China. Besides its natural scenery, Nangongshan is also famous for its Buddhist mummy, or living Buddha.
Unfortunately, most of the old architecture has long been devastated, the temples on the peak of Nangongshan are newly built.
Buddhist mummies refer to the bodies of Buddhist monks that remain incorrupt, without any traces of deliberate mummification by another party. Master HongYi (弘一大師) died 200 years ago, but his body still hasn’t shown any sign of decay.
Not too far from the peak there is a big stone named Conch Stone (海螺石), it is said that if you can blow out the sound through this stone, the whole Nangongshan can hear you.
From the peak of Nangongshan, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the mountain. Nangongshan borders Hubei province to the east, Chongqing municipality to the south, and Sichuan province to the southwest.
Birds chirping everywhere, Choumeizai walks slower and slower, just enjoying the sound of nature.
Around the main entrance of the Nangongshan scenic area there are some stalls selling local dried fruits, the quality of the dried fruits is excellent but the price is reasonable.
