Langzhong (Chinese: 閬中) is located in northeastern Sichuan (四川) Province, China. The old town area of Langzhong can date back to the Three Kingdoms (三國)period (220-280), it is the only ancient city in Sichuan Province.
Langzhong is located on the middle reaches of the Jialing River (嘉陵江), served for a time as the capital of Ba (巴) , a native but sinicized Sichuan state during China's Warring States (戰國) period.
In the middle of the down lies a old building named Zhongtianlou (中天樓), from the top you can overlook the whole town.
There are many shops here selling Zhang Fei Beef (張飛牛肉), which is the most popular specialty of Lanzhong.

There are many historical sites in Langzhong, Gongyuan (貢院) is one of the must see. Gongyuan is the examination hall built in the Qing Dynasty (17th century), which had hosted three imperial examinations by the time when Langzhong served as Sichuan's provincial capital.
Inside Gongyuan there are several exhibition halls, you can see some tools used for cheating in examinations.
