Lake Tekapo is located at Mackenzie Basin in the South Island of New Zealand. The lake is a popular tourist destination, and several shops, restaurants and resort hotels are located at the township of Lake Tekapo.
Close to the Church of the Good Shepherd is a well-known bronze statue of a New Zealand Collie sheepdog. Clay for the model came from Temuka, with a plaster cast of it made and sent to London in 1966, then the statue was moved back to New Zealand after it was cast.
The statue was commissioned by Mackenzie Country residents in recognition of the indispensable role of the sheepdog in their livelihoods, a memorial for those unsung heroes.
There is a shopping street in the township, although Lake Tekapo is a tourist area, the goods here are not expensive, out of Choumeizai’s expectation.
There are tables and clean toilets at the lakeside, all visitors can enjoy picnics here, good for families.
You don’t need to worry even though you haven’t brought food, there is a big supermarket with plenty of choices in the township, don’t miss their barbecue chicken, it smells so good.
By the way, with such excellent scenery, Choumeuzai is so sure that you can eat anything.
