Besides the retail stores selling fresh food and household items, there are also a few restaurants inside Omicho Market.
Most of the seafood shops have seats, so tourists can eat there after they buy the seafood there.
The prawns here are big and fresh, and they taste great even without any soy sauce.
The oyster is bigger than the palm of Choumeizai, the flesh is crunchy and full of the freshness of the ocean.
The snack shops in the market are good places to buy souvenirs. Choumeizai recommends the shrimp sticks here, which are not expensive but extremely tasty.
The market started in 1721, and was a dining place for the Kaga Domain (加賀藩). The name of Omicho Market is originated from a merchant of Ōmi Province (近江国), which today comprises Shiga Prefecture (滋賀県).
