Kakusenkei (Japanese: 鶴仙溪) is a stretch of the Daishoji River (大勝寺川) that runs through lush forest near Yamanaka Onsen (山中溫泉), a hot spring resort in Kaga City (加賀市), Ishikawa Prefecture (石川県), Japan. Choimeizai will talk about some characteristic bridges in Kakusenkei.
Ayatori Bridge (あやとり橋) is a wine-red, S-shaped trestle bridge that winds across the river. The design of the bridge comes from cat's cradle, a children’s game played by strings.
Kosai Bridge (小才橋) is a small stone bridge, which looks simple and clean, is well matched with the surrounding natural environment.
Kakusenkei is a 1.3 kilometer gorge that runs from Korogi Bridge (蟋蟀橋) to Kurotani Bridge (黑谷橋), walking trail is built along the river.
Higashiyama Shrine (東山神社) is located on a hill in the downstream part of Kakusenkei, the shrine is very small but with a simple and elegant appearance, and it seems to have a long history.
Completed in 1935, Kurotani Bridge is a 36 meters long concrete arch bridge. Although it is a bridge build in Showa (昭和) Era, it features a retro-style design reminiscent of the Taisho (大正) Era.
The walking trail of Kakusenkei is flat, safe and easy to walk, suitable for anyone, even the elderly and children.
