Jiufen (Chinese: 九份), literally means 'nine portions', is a seaside mountain area in Ruifang (瑞芳) District, New Taipei City (新北市), Taiwan. In the early years, Jiufen was prosperous because of gold mines, but it declined after the mines were exhausted.
Shuqi Road (豎崎路) is entirely made up of stone steps. There are many viewing teahouses on Shuqi Road, where visitors can view the beautiful northern coastline of Taiwan.
Jishan Road (基山街) is also known as Dark Street. You never see the sunlight and it is usually packed with people, particularly on weekends and holidays.
Jishan Road still largely maintains its old appearance and is the main shopping street in Jiufen. In addition, there is a lookout at the corner, from which you can overlook the magnificent scenery of Keelung and the north coast of Taiwan.
Chingbian Road (輕便路) was originally a small train track built during the Japanese occupation period (1931), and it was not demolished until 1954.
