Jinshanling (Chinese: 金山嶺) is a section of the Great Wall of China located in the mountainous area in Chengde City (承德), Hebei Province (河北). Jinshanling was built from 1570 CE during the Ming dynasty, now it has become a popular place for tourists and photographers.
A cable car has been constructed to take visitors to the highest point along the wall, but it is not so difficult if you go up without a cable car, it takes around 20minutes by walking.
The Jinshanling section of the Great Wall is around 10 km long with many passes, towers and beacon towers. Some parts of Jinshanling are broken due to its long history, be careful while you walk.
Both dusk and dawn are the best time to visit Jinshanling, since the sunlight at these two moments are soft and tender, which give this stone relic life.
It was said that before Jinshanling became a famous tourist attraction, many backpackers liked to stay here overnight. For the sake of protecting the relics, staying overnight is prohibited, all visitors must leave after dark.
All towers are painted with beautiful orange, look like the old generals guarding this lonely mountain, murmuring their glorious past...
