Kat O (Chinese: 吉澳) also named Crooked Island, is an island in Northeast Hong Kong. Kat O is the largest island in the North District and the closest island to Mainland China in Hong Kong, Kat O Main Street is the most prosperous street of the island, where you can shop and dine.
Kat O used to be a fishing port. There are a few shops selling dried seafood on Kat O Main Street, but it is not cheap.
Cha Kwo (茶粿) is a kind of Hakka dessert made with sticky rice flour, peanuts or beans. The Cha Kwo sold here are cheap and delicious, good for souvenirs.
There are only a few restaurants in Kat O. This one is the biggest and the most popular, but it only opens on Saturday or Sunday.
There are not so many choices on the menu, so Choumeizai chooses their signature dishes only. Steamed dried seafood is delicious but salty, better eaten with rice to relish the taste of the ocean.
Homemade cuttlefish balls are springy and savory, you can only eat here in Hong Kong, a dish that you must try.
Hakka stew pork is soft and tasty, the pork looks fat but it is not so oily when you put it in your mouth.
The dishes are a bit pricey, but the food is delicious and the portion is big, and you can eat rice and congee as much as you can.
