HouFeng Bikeway (Chinese: 后豐鐵馬道) is located in Taichung City (台中市), Taiwan. HouFeng Bikeway was originally a railway. HouFeng Bikeway has a total length of 5.8 kilometers, connecting Houli Station (后里車站) to Fengyuan Station (豐原車站).
HouFeng Bikeway was converted from an old railway Jiushan Line (舊山線), which was abolished in 1997.
Built in 1908, Tunnel No. 9 (9號隧道) is 1.2 kilometers long and is the longest tunnel of Jiushan Line. The tunnel is illuminated and well ventilated, even more comfortable than outside.
At the north entrance of the tunnel, there are four Chinese characters "潛行不窒" (Sneak underwater without suffocation) inscribed by Goto Shinping (後藤新平), the chief civil officer of Taiwan during the Japanese occupation period.
There is a “Couple Tree” near the north entrance of Tunnel No. 9. Two old trees are intertwined and cannot be separated, like a loving couple.
Flowers blossom along the way and the fragrance of flowers is everywhere, the spring in Taiwan is really beautiful.
HouFeng Bikeway has railings to separate the bicycle lanes and roads, which is absolutely safe and suitable for families.
